Assertive Community Treatment for Transitional Age Youth (ACT-TAY)

Overview

ACT-TAY is an evidence-based, specialized service which engages persons who have been unsuccessful, avoid or do not respond well to traditional treatment modalities. We provide a multi-disciplinary team that offers intensive treatment services. Part of this program includes an intensive fidelity-based team. Services usually occur over a two to three year period.

Burrell's team provides comprehensive treatment in the following areas:

  • Medication management
  • Nursing
  • Vocational and academic support
  • Individual therapy
  • Substance use disorder support
  • Intensive case management
  • Peer support

Ages served are youth and adults ages 16 to 25 with a qualifying serious mental illness and significant functional impairments, emotional disturbance, co-occurring substance use disorders, or severe impairments to daily functioning or independent living skills. Individuals must be committed to multiple treatment related contacts by the treatment team weekly and be able to participate in individual and group therapies.

Medicaid clients are the only ones eligible for this program, though uninsured clients are welcome to apply for the Sedalia program. In addition to Medicaid, clients must meet community psychiatric rehabilitation requirements to participate.
